You don't need back-meta or any other proxy (unless rewriting the naming
context is required (1)); just stack the slapo-pcache(5) overlay on top of
back-sql.  It should work straightforwardly (tested few weeks ago).

(1) in this case, I suggest you play with HEAD code and try out back-relay
with the slapo-rwm(5) overlay.
