In Outlook 2000 (v9.0) i can only search the address book, and not browse
or list it.

Have you looked at the slapd logs to see what Outlook is doing? I also suggest searching the list archives at <http://www.openldap.org> with "outlook" as a keyword. There's been plenty of traffic about outlook.
