definitely! at that time, I was misguided by google as well; I fixed it
somehere between 2.2.0 and 2.2.latest, when I found out that the double
'$$' is only needed in "group.regex" to escape expansion prior to
regcomp(), but forgot to fix it in 2.1.X (*#@!)

I hope there will be another 2.1!
