Re: slapadd/cat works, ldapadd/search doesn't?

You need a filter.. ie,

# ldapsearch -x -h localhost -b dc=my-domain,dc=com cn="*Giesler"

Hope that helps..

add "-h your-ldap-server -b dc=my-domain,dc=com" to this command. If not, then it will take
the defaults from /etc/openldap/ldap.conf

OK; this brings me one step further (although I'd tried that before). It still doesn't find anything, though:

huckepack:~> ldapsearch -x -h localhost -b dc=my-domain,dc=com Giesler
# extended LDIF
# LDAPv3
# base <dc=my-domain,dc=com> with scope sub
# filter: (objectclass=*)
# requesting: Giesler

# search result
search: 2
result: 0 Success

# numResponses: 1
