ldap clients and their authentication mechanism

Hello,

I believe that Oracle, SAP and Sun Solaris server
support LDAP Authentication for users login. Does
anybody know which mechanism that they use for LDAP
authentication ? Simple bind ? GSSAPI ? Digest-MD5 ?
