error changing user password

i followed the gentoo ldap howto and when i tryed to change the user's
password i got this error
rpinto@freyr rpinto $ passwd
Enter login(LDAP) password:
passwd: Authentication information cannot be recovered
rpinto@freyr rpinto $
any ideas?
