The URI in ldap.conf seems to be correct, it's set to (the equivalent
of):

    URI ldap://ldap.domain.net/

I also tried using:

    ldapsearch -H 'ldap://ldap.domain.net/'

and still got the same hostname in the principal. Any clues?
