slapindex question

All;
I have a speculative type question.
Recently, I updated my test server to OpenLDAP 2.1.25. To repopulate it, 
I ran slapcat (on the old database), then slapadd (on the new).
All seems ok, but the lookups are slow. I have a database of just over 
70,000 users (could be part of why it's slow).

So the question:
1) Since I ran slapadd, is it then necessary to run slapindex, to 
re-index the database?
2) (about) How long should slapindex take to run on a database of 70,000 
users?
