any idea on what caused this: slapd[8710]: ch_malloc of 2416248538 bytes failed

Today, the openldap server crashed.  From the log I got

slapd[8710]: ch_malloc of 2416248538 bytes failed 

Any idea on what would cause this?

I am running openldap 2.1.22 on redhat 8.0.  The server box is a dell box with 2 intel xeon processors and 2gig of ram.

This is the DB_CONFIG file:
set_cachesize   0 1073741824 0
set_lg_max      209715200 
set_lg_bsize    52428800 
set_flags       DB_TXN_NOSYNC
