Matt,

Are you aware that you take a data durability risk by setting DB_TXN_NOSYNC in 
your DB_CONFIG? If slapd crashes, you are likely to loose all updates since 
the most recent checkpoint because you do not write the transactions logs 
synchronously to disk.

B.t.w. After changing settings in DB_CONFIG, a db_recover is sufficient. 
Re-loading an LDIF is not required, but does not hurt.
