Clients and updateref

Hi
I set up as  master slave relationshop with OpenLdap 2.0.26
I send a update request to the slave, and the slave respond with
then correct updateref.
But all cleints I tried throw ans error.

As an example here is PHPLdapAdmin:

Could not perform ldap_modify operation. 
LDAP said: Insufficient access
Error number: 0x32 (LDAP_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS)

I tried also:
Directory-Administrator and JXExplorer

Is it possible that all this clients not support updateref  ?
or should i seek the error on my configuration ?
