Indexing.

hi,

So I have the following indexing:
index   default         pres,eq
index   uid
index   uidNumber
index   gidNumber
index   cn              pres,eq,sub

This is an authentication server (posixAccount,posixGroup,sambaAccount) for now. If
I go into /home and do ls -la I get about 4 listings per second. For example:

robson:/home# date && ls -la && date
Mon Aug 11 17:16:54 PDT 2003
total 40
<removed for brevity>
Mon Aug 11 17:17:04 PDT 2003

If that was with the passwd file, it would take about 2 seconds for the listing (if that).

I just rebuilt the indexes, by shutting down the server, doing slapindex, and restarting.
They seem to exist Ok:
robson:/var/lib/ldap# ls -la
total 1088
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root         4096 Jul 26 12:38 .
drwxr-xr-x   15 root     root         4096 Jul 26 12:44 ..
-rw-------    1 root     root       249856 Aug 11 17:00 cn.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root       151552 Aug 11 17:00 dn2id.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root        12288 Aug 11 17:00 gidNumber.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root       577536 Aug 11 16:21 id2entry.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root         8192 Aug 11 16:25 nextid.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root        45056 Aug 11 17:00 objectClass.dbb
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root            0 Aug 11 16:21 replog
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root            0 Aug 11 16:21 replog.lock
-rw-------    1 root     root        28672 Aug 11 17:00 uid.dbb
-rw-------    1 root     root        20480 Aug 11 17:00 uidNumber.dbb

And the server is running as root.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
j.
