That doesn't fix the problem.

Further follow-up:

Upping idlcachesize to 100000 definitely helped. Searching on a subtree is still about 1/4 second slower with HDB in 2.2 than BDB in 2.1, for those that are interested. Essentially, those looking at HDB will need to set idlcachesize based on the size/extent of their DB.
