Re: Uhhh, something went wrong...need help

Well, I tried to fix this on my own. Since I was doing some testing, I decided to stop LDAP, remove all the contents in /var/lib/ldap and then repopulate...here is what happened...I really hope someone call tell me what in the world happened:

[root@PDC-SRV openldap]# ldapadd -x -h localhost -D "cn=Manager,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com" -f base.ldif -W
Enter LDAP Password:
adding new entry "dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"   <-----says it added it

adding new entry "ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"

adding new entry "ou=Users,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"

adding new entry "ou=Computers,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"

adding new entry "cn=Domain Admins,ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"

adding new entry "cn=Domain Users,ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com"

adding new entry "cn=Administrators,ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com

BUT....

[root@PDC-SRV openldap]# ldapsearch -x
version: 2

#
# filter: (objectclass=*)
# requesting: ALL
#

# Groups, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Groups
description: System Groups

# Users, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Users,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Users
description: Users of the comanization

# Computers, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Computers,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Computers
description: Windows Domain Computers

objectClass: posixGroup
gidNumber: 201
cn: Domain Users
description: Windows Domain Users

objectClass: posixGroup
gidNumber: 220
cn: Administrators
description: Windows Domain Members can administer the computer and Domain

# search result
search: 2
result: 0 Success

# numResponses: 7
# numEntries: 6

Its not there....Why is the top branch not showing up?

Please, if anyone has some insight, I could really use it about now.

Cheers,

Jason

Hello again. Well, I have had a few odd thing happen to my LDAP directory. Not sure exactly what happened, but im thinking I need to fix it.
Let me show what is in it right now:

# Groups, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Groups,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Groups
description: System Groups

# Users, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Users,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Users
description: Users of the Organization

# Computers, courtesymortgage, com
dn: ou=Computers,dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: Computers
description: Windows Domain Computers

objectClass: posixGroup
gidNumber: 200
cn: Domain Admins
memberUid: administrator
description: Windows Domain users

objectClass: posixGroup
gidNumber: 201
cn: Domain Users
description: Windows Domain Users

objectClass: posixGroup
cn: Loanofficers
gidNumber: 1000
memberUid: test1

What's missing is this:

# courtesymortgage, com
dn: dc=courtesymortgage,dc=com
objectClass: top
objectClass: domain
dc: courtesymortgage
description: courtesymortgage organization

I am not sure how that was removed from my directory, but I need to figure out how to get it back in there.

Anyone have any idea on how I can do that?

Thank you.
