I should have made that part clearer. The system is working with
evolution as a contact database and with BIND 9 as a zone database.

Evolution supports both for read / write.

Manually, from the command line, I have been able to fully populate
a DNS tree for use with BIND, which is also functioning. However, if
I attempt to use GQ, I can read/browse, but not write.

It really implies to me that GQ is broken, but it is the
log messages that simply do not make any sense to me:

Apr 14 10:52:24 uranus slapd[30502]: <= check a_dn_pat:
 cn=Manager,dc=equoria,dc=net
Apr 14 10:52:24 uranus slapd[30502]: => string_expand: pattern:
 cn=Manager,dc=equoria,dc=net
Apr 14 10:52:24 uranus slapd[30502]: => string_expand: expanded:
 cn=Manager,dc=equoria,dc=net
Apr 14 10:52:24 uranus slapd[30502]: => regex_matches: string:
Apr 14 10:52:24 uranus slapd[30502]: => regex_matches: rc: 1 no matches

This really looks like a perfect match to me, so why the "no matches"
error?

Sorry - That was my bad. I really _should_ know better.
