password problem

Hello Everyone...

Following the directions in this doc:
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/other-formats/html_single/LDAP-HOWTO.html#DBOnline,
I created a password for myself using the slappasswd command. However, when I 
run ldapadd, I'm prompted for my password, and it doesn't take. I get an 
"Invalid credentials" message. If I don't enter a password (or just leave it 
blank and type <ENTER>), I get 
ldap_add: Insufficient access
	additional info: no write access to parent

Can anyone tell me what's going on here and how to fix this?
