Good tip.  I checked and I'm only using 2% of 26 GB on that partition.
But that eliminates one possible cause.

I got this very same error before for probably a different reason, and I
hate to admit what it was... I had logging set at -1 and I filled up my
20
GB partition in 4 hours of performance testing.
You might check your storage availability on the partition where your
index is stored...
