In the db directory, which only needs to contain an uncorrupted (and
preferably freshly checkpointed) transition log::

'/wherever-you-have-it/db_recover -c'
'slapindex' (presuming you are using the standard /path/to/slapd.conf)
'chown ldapuser:ldapuser *'

Isn't nature wonderful?

All the BDB 4 docs are in the Berkeley install directory and make good
reading.
