URI Directive in slapd.conf doesn't seem to work

I have been unable to use the URI directive in the slapd.conf file to
tell LDAP which IP to bind to.

I can do it through the startup script and on the command line using the
-H parameter but when I put the same values in the slapd.conf file under
the database definition section.

Here is my slapd.conf section defining the database:

database        bdb
readonly        off
suffix          "o=my,c=us"
rootdn          "cn=manager,o=my,c=us"
URI             "ldap://hostname.my.com";

Any ideas?
