Can't UnTAR SYMAS OpenLDAP files for SunOS 5.8

I am unable to untar the first file itself named 'cdscommon-1.1.tar'. The OS
is SunOS 5.8.
I tried following two commands and both failed.

# tar x cdscommon-1.1.tar
tar: /dev/rmt/0: No such file or directory

# tar xvf cdscommon-1.1.tar
tar: directory checksum error

This is going rather difficult now. Please guide. Thanks.

It is there.  SunOS 5.8 = Solaris 2.8 = Solaris 8.  Solaris 8 is really
the official name.
