slapadd can't find libdb

When I try -
# /usr/local/sbin/slapadd -n 1 -l base.ldif
I get -
/usr/local/sbin/slapadd: fatal: libdb-4.0.so: open failed: No such file or directory.

libdb-4.0.so is in /usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.0/lib, do I need to tell slapadd how to localte it? If so how? By the way I'm trying this on Solaris 8 x86. Thanks for the help.
