Maybe I will answer my own question.

[correct me if I am wrong.]

With each one of the objectclaseses you end up with a seperate tree from
the top. Do we really want make it so complicated ?

Just use these :

dn: o=Washington College, st=Maryland, c=US
objectClass: top
objectClass: organization
o: Washington College
Description: Top level of Directory

dn: ou=People, o=Washington College,  st=Maryland, c=US
objectClass: top
objectClass: organizationalUnit
ou: People
Description: All people within Washington College.
