help with alias object and ldif

Can someone please explain why this alias definition in an ldif file doesn?t work ?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
dn: o=Organization
objectclass: top
objectclass: organization
o:Organization

dn: ou=Groups, o=Organization
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalUnit
ou: Groups

dn: ou=People, o=Organization
objectclass: top
objectclass: organizationalUnit
ou: People

dn: uid=OE, ou=People, o=Organization
objectclass: top
objectclass: person
objectclass: inetorgperson
uid:OE
cn:OriginalEntry
sn:Surname

dn: uid=AE, ou=Groups, o=Organization
objectclass: alias
aliasedObjectName: uid="uid=OE, ou=People, o=Organization", ou=People, o=Organization
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think, my intention is clear. I wan?t to make an alias entry in the ou "Groups" that points to an entry in ou="People". In my ldapbrowser I have dereferencing alias set to "always", but the entry isn?t shown in the tree. If I set dereferencing to "never", I see the alias object entry...
I?m using openldap 2.0.23, and Berkeley DB 4.0.14.
Any hints are welcome.

Stephan
