I have had some limited success with tng (it's functioning as a login and
file server); however, it appears to be incomplete (some of the functions in
samedit like enumusers haven't been implemented for ldap and I think that's
what's keeping Microsoft's User Manager for Domains from functioning) and I
had to hack things a bit to get it to behave in the presence of pam_ldap (it
requires the unix account to exist before it will create a new samba user,
but it wanted to add several of the posixAccount attributes to the ldap
entry and wasn't happy if they were already there).

I found http://www.unav.es/cti/ldap-smb/ldap-smb-TNG-howto.html to be a good
place to get started, but it didn't get me all the way partly because I'm
working with OpenLDAP 2.0.7.
