using SASL-EXTERNAL mechanism

Hello,

I would like some help on configuring the OpenLDAP server that I have
installed. Currently, it allows starting TLS sessions and authentication
using client certificates. However, I have not been able to bind using the
sasl external mechanism following the start of the TLS session. Use of
ldap_sasl_bind_s ,with "EXTERNAL" as mechanism results in the server
returning ldap_strong_auth _not _supported error . Is there a way to
configure the server to use the external mechanism.
