binding to slapd through referral causes crash!

I'm curious why no one is interested in this issue with slapd, it is 
apparent to me that this is a big issue when I can crash a server from the 
client.

Searches with JNDI that bind to slapd across referrals crash slapd. While 
ldapsearch is able to bind across these referrals to do a search.

Hasn't anyone encountered this problem with slapd and JNDI!
