sasl-secprops none - in slapd.conf

Hello,

for the last several months I've studying OpenLDAP.
Finally I got the courage to try it out.

 Platfrom - Solaris 5.6
 OpenLDAP 2.0.7
 BerkeleyDB 3.17
 openssl 0.96
 Cyrus-Sasl 1.5.24
 heimdal 0.3d

All tests after compilations were successful.

I 've added the following to slapd.conf :

####
# sasl stuff
####
sasl-host uma.weizmann.ac.il
sasl-realm WEIZMANN.AC.IL
sasl-secprops none

 and to ldap.conf:

  SASL_SECPROPS none

running slapd -d 255 , yields:

[...]
  line 9 (schemacheck on)
  line 14 (sasl-host uma.weizmann.ac.il)
  line 15 (sasl-realm WEIZMANN.AC.IL)
  line 16 (sasl-secprops none)
  line 24 (pidfile /usr/local/var/slapd.pid)
  line 25 (argsfile /usr/local/var/slapd.args)
  line 38 (database ldbm)
  line 40 (suffix "dc=weizmann, dc=ac, dc=il")
  line 41 (rootdn "cn=Manager, dc=weizmann, dc=ac, dc=il")
  line 45 (rootpw secret)
  line 48 (directory /usr/local/var/openldap-ldbm)
  line 50 (index objectClass eq)
  index objectClass 0x0004
  slapd startup: initiated.
  slapd starting

Which looks okay.

while any programs from
./servers/slapd/tools/[slapadd,slapcat,slapindex], don't :

  line 9 (schemacheck on)
  line 14 (sasl-host uma.weizmann.ac.il)
  line 15 (sasl-realm WEIZMANN.AC.IL)
  line 16 (sasl-secprops none)
  /usr/local/etc/openldap/slapd.conf: line 16: sasl-secprops:
No databases found in config file

ldap clients works fine.

If I remove the sasl-secprops line the slapd tools work , but then I
don't see the available sasl mechanisms.

What do you think of that? Can you send some help here?

 thanx,
