Approximate matching routines

Hi,
   Are there any approximate matching routines implemented?  In the
schema_init.c of the approximate matching routines
(directoryStringApproxMatch and IA5StringApproxMatch) are set to NULL.   I
am trying to implement my own backend routine to do approximate matching but
was trying to use openLDAP's existing matching routines if possible.

Am I totally missing something?
