---> error loading shared libraries??

Below is the error when I tried starting the slapd following the
administrator's guide:

[root@abraxas openldap]# /usr/local/libexec/slapd
/usr/local/libexec/slapd: error in loading shared libraries: libsasl.so.7:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

[root@abraxas openldap]# locate libsasl.so.7
/usr/local/lib/libsasl.so.7.1.8
/usr/local/lib/libsasl.so.7
/usr/local/src/cyrus-sasl-1.5.24/lib/.libs/libsasl.so.7.1.8
/usr/local/src/cyrus-sasl-1.5.24/lib/.libs/libsasl.so.7


Could it be because I have two different libsasl.so.7 files? Where do I
change it to use the specific one?   Any suggestions?  THanks in advance
