Re: default database?

Thank you for your response. According to "man ldap.conf", the ldap.conf
file:

"...is used to set  system-wide defaults  to  be  applied when running
ldap clients.  "

I am not running any of these searching from on the same server. (Sorry
I did not mention that.) The ldap.conf file appears to be specifically
to control ldap clients running on this server, not remotely. When I
modify the ldap.conf file, it appears to have no effect.
