I got it working on an AIX 4.3.2 system with IBM CC version 3.6.6. What
version of IBM's compiler are you using?

CC=cc
CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB/include"
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB/lib"

./configure

mga.
