Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...

This is how i migrated from Netscape DS3.0 to OpenLDAP 1.2.7:

1. Dump the database  to LDIF
2. Cleanup LDIF file using grep, sed and friends (mostly just remove the
   ACI's and the bookkeeping stuff)
3. Setup OpenLDAP and use the LDIF file to fill the database.

Took me one weekend, but i had to convert the character encoding from Roman8
to ISO-8859-1 and check the spelling of the entries...
