OpenLDAP and Outlook 98

Dear Sirs/Madames:

I have encountered a problem with the OpenLDAP
and the Outlook 98 client. I frequently recieve
nothing when I try to view the directory service.

I did the closest thing to a diagnostics I could
find in the archives by adding the following lines
to the /etc/syslog.conf file:

local4.err      /var/log/ldap.log
local4.debug    /var/log/ldap.log
local4.notice   /var/log/ldap.log
local4.alert    /var/log/ldap.log

At first I tried Netscape, since it OpenLDAP works fine
with netscape, and examined the ldap.log file... it looks
like this:

To me it looks like a stright forward query of data
and ending in a normal process kind of way.

But when I let Outlook 98 ask for the same thing I get

It seems that there is this "unknown version 3" thing which results
to an initial error then when it queries for the data I get a lot
of this extended filters. I queried for an "*" in both Netscape and
Outlook 98.

Can anyone tell me what's happening here, please ?
