Re: POP3/IMAP server using LDAP

Cyrus. Cyrus does POP and IMAP. I'm still running an older
version than the current (I'm running 1.5.19). I've patched it to do LDAP
for authentication, including looking up a user by uid, and optionally
applying additional filters for access control.
I've also patched it to be able to read gzipped messages, which
has been very helpful with big mails and small disks. I usually get a
near 50% savings.
# I have done some simple patches to qpop to search for the user in the tree,
# and bind as that user, if it passes it does a maildrop.
#
# so there dont hve to be entries in /etc/passwd for my pop server, i am also
# looking for a imap solution though.
