access and email

I'm setting up an ldap server for work, the box is mainly used for our
mail server, and runs an intranet webserver.  I've used the Migration
tools perl scripts to convert my /etc/passwd file, and have lookups
going from clients without a problem.
However, the lookups display more information that I really want to be
displayed. 
I'd like to limit what is displayed to cn, sn, and mail address.   
Right now it displays uid, home directory, password {crypto}, shadow
stats, etc.   I've played some with the access, but can't seem to make
it work.   I mainly want to use LDAP as an email/phone directory more
than anything else.
