Actually, I believe this 2 server approach is what Netscape recommends.
However, their reasoning was for performance - the roaming profiles are
potentially large and may write more often to LDAP than other things
normally would, so the roaming profile server is separated from the
"main" server (though it may be part of the same tree.  This is off the
top of my head, and it's been a while since I read it, but I think there
was an attribute in the users record telling where the profile exists
via LDAP URL to allow this separation).
