RE: problem authenticating using pam



The passwd file had to have valid users so the system knew what to do with
em after they were authenticated...the passwords weren't critical (or
needed), except as fail-over if ldap didn't work or wasn't available.

So you're saying that the password file still must have valid entries?
Then that kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
