If you're using Linux, (with the v2.2 kernels) I believe you can have the
kernel handle port forwarding using ipchains. (and if I'm wrong, please
tell me) Redir worked for a time with our web server, but it wasn't as
reliable as we had hoped.

And if you're not running Linux, redir may be the way to go.
