Netscape fails every now and then
Hello everybody.
I've been using OpenLDAP's slapd after UMich's one from ldap-3.3.
At the beginning, as clients, I mainly used the tools that came with it,
like ldapsearch, ldapadd and so on; I've been using it also with
sendmail 8.9
for sender and recipient control without any problem, as well as with
other clients, like pam_ldap.
But when I try to use the directory search of Netscape's address book,
regardless of the version (4.05, 4.07, 4.08, 4.51) under Linux I get
0xFFFFFFFFFF error every now and then. Note that with the same
Netscape under Windows 98/NT there is no problem (I never noticed
a failure). This hurts because I'm going to use the slapd mainly with
Linux
boxes, and the address book is really useful.
>From the server side, I get an error that sounds like "broken pipe".
If anyone wants to help me, I can send a log of the slapd.
I'm using OpenLDAP 1.2, but I had the problem also with ldap-3.3
as well as with OpenLDAP 1.0/1.1, with Linux Redhat 5.1/5.2.
Does anybody have the same problem? I couldn't find any mention of it
in mails in the last six months.
Thanks in advance,
Pierangelo
