Multiple Assignment Representation

Has anyone out there run into the problem of how to represent individuals
who have multiple assignments (e.g. multiple titles and organizational
units) in the directory tree?  I want each individual person to have one
entry in the directory, but I can't figure out how to create a good model
for this.  Obviously I could have a completely flat tree and just have
multiple titles for those folks, but I would like to be able to have a
hierarchial tree that folks can browse and view all employees with active
assignments in a particular organizational unit.

Just FYI, there will be about 15,000 employees represented in this tree in
about 200 organizational units.

Any help would be much appreciated.
