Trying to get started ...

Hi,

I downloaded OpenLDAP mainly out of curiosity.  I'm running one of the
latest versions of Debian Linux on a single machine.  I'm hooked up to the
Internet, but I'm just trying to get LDAP going on my single machine.

OpenLDAP seemed to compile ok.  I installed in a subdirectory of my home
directory so that I could easily uninstall if necessary.  When I try to
run slapd, I get the following error:

bind() failed errno 13 (Permission denied)

What do I need to do to get things running ok?
