By spying on the Windows Address Book
(WAB) when it queries a server
(using tcpdump) it is possible to
determine what attributes the client
cares about. For the WAB that comes
with MS IE 5.0b2 the result is in the
attachment to this message.
Some of the attributes are just
different names for the same thing
(cn vs. commonName), but the URL and
labeledURI attributes can both be set
and have different effects when present.
I am curious about the Manager attribute.
If present a "Manager.." button appears,
but if this is clicked then Win98 hangs...
Anyone know if this feature is intended to
work at all?
Netscape also knows about:
nickname
---
I do not believe all the WAB attributes can be
set through LDAP, though it would be nice.
