Extending the schema

I am with a small (120 user) company.  We are
successfully using a ldap server for our internal
employee directory.

I want to expand the use of our LDAP to include a
contact databse-- phone numbers addresses, and notes of
people with whom we do business or interact.

I am having trouble figuring out how the schema should
be changed to accomodate this.  Should I create a new
organizational unit called "contacts", or perhaps a new
organization?  How have ohtre s done this?
