Entry ID's not getting deleted from children files

I seem to be having the same problem as this person, is this a known
problem?
our company has decided that until this is fixed that we will consider
that the entry shouldn't be deleted just to consider it as a history,
but I know personally that I will make mistakes in entering  sub fields
under fields and would like to correct the mistake and not to keep it as
a record.
