And Exim has allows most of it's configuration to be set from either a string
or database lookup. The database lookup is generalized and includes dbm, db,
NIS, NIS+ and LDAP.

I use Exim/LDAP to support virtual users in virtual domains (delivery to either
POP or IMAP mailboxes, forward somewhere else, or return a message). This
involves looking up mailforwarding information, mailbox location, auto-reply
mode (aka vacation) and auto-reply text from LDAP.
