updating the slave slapd ?

Hello,

We set up master and slave slapds on 2 Sun machines running Solaris 2.6.
When I try to update an entry using the slave slapd, I think the request
will be directed to the master (as the scenario mentioned in the UM version 3.3
administration guide).  However, I only got a referral to the master server.
Does it mean we've to handle it on the client side ?

Would anyone please advise ?  Thank you very much.
