Getting a working LDAP Server

I would like to use a simple LDAP server to facilitate username/e-mail
lookups through Netscape and Outlook clients.

I have tried openldap without success following the admin guide word for
word on a RedHat Linux v5.0 PC.

Is Netscape's LDAP commercial? Are there any other LDAP servers I could try
to use?
