I've committed the fix to back-meta as per ITS#4150; a regression test
is in test035, which requires slapd-meta2.conf and meta.out as well.

So far, RE_23 hasn't been particularly stable for me in my production environment. I had one core dump that didn't give me any useful information sadly, and today I had the issue with the 2.2 slurpd having problems doing a SASL/GSSAPI bind to RE_23 from 2005-11-04 after Kurt sync'd it all in the afternoon with HEAD. Since this has never happened in 2.2, I'm wondering if there are still some issues in the connection code.

Looking at the log on my one production 2.3 system seems to indicate this is likely the case, and given that this is impacting production servers, I'm gonna have to drop it out of the pool for now. See ITS#4151 for further detail.
