Of course; but as soon as it gets back to the pool, it will discover it's
no longer the master.  Isn't this better than having potential conflicts
all the time?  The problem you indicate gets even worse in case the pool
is split in isolated portions, so that each portion ends up into an
independent republic of servers.  The subsequent re-federation when they
get back together will likely be painful.
