which funtion and varible is used to ?

i am using openldap-2.0.18
 when running  slapd server and using outlook express  client to search the
attribute 

the matter is  when i key in "Tom" then to search
in the slapd server's code (such as daemon.c,connect.c)
following the accept() function  in daemon.c  at line  880 

which function is used to read the key words "Tom"
and which variable is used to store the key words "Tom"
